Ahora la nueva subespecie de Megascops koepckeae ("Lechuza de (Koepcke) de Apurímac") - ver página 490 en la "Guía Ecoturística: Mancomunidad Saywite-Choquequirao-Ampay" - tiene su nombre científico oficial (en honor de Pedro Hocking y sus esfuerzos inexhaustibles para documentar la avifauna peruana, y en especial los bosques pocos estudiados de los Andes centrales del Perú, incluso Apurímac): Megascops koepckeae hockingi. Now, the new subspecies of Megascops koepckeae ("Apurimac (Koepckeae's) Screech Owl") - see page 490 in the "Guía Ecoturística: Mancomunidad Saywite - Choquequirao - Ampay" - has its official scientific name (in honour of Pedro Hocking and his life-long efforts to document the Peruvian avifauna, notably the poorly explored forests of the central Peruvian Andes): Megascops koepckeae hockingi.
